Hydrogen Gas Sensing
AppliedSensor’s highly selective, fast-responding hydrogen sensor technology enables tomorrow's hydrogen-based economy.
Volatile political conditions, as well as concerns over rising oil prices, have focused worldwide attention on hydrogen as an alternative fuel source. Both the U.S. government and the European Union have earmarked billions of dollars to accelerate the development of tomorrow’s “hydrogen economy.” This economy has the potential to offer a readily renewable source of energy in the form of clean power generated from hydrogen, for automotive, industrial, commercial, residential and consumer applications.
To enable these applications, AppliedSensor has developed the a highly selective and fast-responding HLS-440 Hydrogen Leak Sensor designed to be placed onboard vehicles, as well as in and around the fueling stations. Other applications include monitoring fuel cell efficiency and exhaust gas. Unlike sensors that have severe cross sensitivity to a variety of combustible gases, AppliedSensor’s HLS-440 was developed using field effect technology to high selectivitye to hydrogen gas, without interference from background gases or water vapor.
In addition to the HLS-440 Hydrogen Leak Sensor, AppliedSensor’s HY platform, enables developers to proceed with their design of hydrogen-fueled products, secure in the knowledge that an effective leak-detection device has already been commercialized.
