AppliedSensor to Exhibit USB Indoor Air Monitor and iAQ-2000 Professional HVAC Air Quality Sensor at Sensor + Test 2010, May 18-20, 2010 in Nürnberg, Germany


Warren, New Jersey - March 24, 2010 - AppliedSensor, a designer and manufacturer of chemical sensor components and intelligent indoor air quality (iAQ) modules, will exhibit its new Indoor Air Monitor and iAQ-2000 Professional HVAC Air Quality Sensor at Sensor + Test 2010, May 18-20, 2010 in Nürnberg, Germany in Hall 12, Stand 331. According to Sensor + Test officials, “…as a building’s HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) system consumes the most overall energy, enormous savings can be achieved when sensors are used to provide the decisive impulse for accurate, demand-oriented HVAC systems.”


“Tests conducted at a fitness center comparing the iAQ sensor against timer-controlled ventilation installed in an air handling unit showed 24 percent less operating time, which translates to a 60 percent energy cost savings. Visitors to the fitness center gave the air quality improved ratings,” said AppliedSensor, Inc. CEO Tom Aiken.


The two products that will be on display by AppliedSensor at Sensor + Test in Hall 12, Stand 331 are:

  • The Indoor Air Monitor, about the size of a computer memory stick and said to be the world’s smallest indoor air quality sensor, plugs into a computer’s USB port to alert users to subtle changes in air quality. An embedded LED display glows green when air quality is good, while a yellow or red light indicates fair or poor air quality, respectively. AppliedSensor’s Indoor Air Monitor is available for private labeling and distribution with price determined by quantity. It is now shipping to qualified distributors for retail sale to end users and includes a one-year warranty.

  • The iAQ-2000 Professional HVAC air quality module is a sensitive, low-cost solution for detecting poor air quality. The module uses micro-machined metal oxide semiconductor (MOS) technology to detect a broad range of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) such as bio-effluents, smoke, building materials, paints and cleaning supplies in surrounding air, and correlate these measurements with the level of CO2 in the room. The highly sensitive, fast-responding iAQ-2000 features low power consumption and small size for convenient installation
